Dr. Sabino Lara originally from Houston Texas, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in both Chemistry and Molecular Biology. He later went on to pursue medicine at the Texas Tech University of Health Sciences where he graduated with his medical degree with multiple honors. He continued his medical training and graduated from the University of Texas Dell Medical School General Surgery Residency program with a Distinction tract status.
As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Lara plays a frontline role in identifying and treating diseases related to obesity and its precursors. He recognizes the intimate connection between weight and other factors including hormones, stress, sleep, and genetics. Integrating his personal experience, and knowledge and utilizing the latest available therapies is a natural fit to provide comprehensive weight loss, wellness, and aesthetic care. He currently serves as medical director of Lean-ish
Betsy Koovakada is a board certified nurse practitioner (NP) who has dedicated her profession to serving her community. Betsy was born and raised in Houston, Texas and has made it her mission to live life guided by service. She started her career as a registered nurse (RN) working in several hospitals and private clinics across the Houston area. She then went on to receive a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis in family practice. She has worked in many diverse areas including preventive care, wellness care, obesity medicine, pain management, infectious disease, and child/adult psychiatry.
After years of expanding her knowledge base and becoming a well rounded healthcare provider, she has found her calling in wellness and aesthetics as she truly believes this sector of medicine needs a more holistic, empathic, and integrated approach. Betsy has confidence that her diverse healthcare background, including her certification in weight loss and aesthetics, equips her to deliver an individualized and customizable care plan to provide her patients with the tools needed to look good; because when you look good, you feel good.
